Prejudice

Hi Readers,

Today i will be writing about “prejudice”, which made me thought about something common yet people don’t realize it. “Prejudice” is a thought, belief or attitude, it has a common meaning, judging someone without knowing anything about them. The word prejudice is quite similar to discriminating, however discriminating is a form of action, prejudice is a form of expressing, both will cause a psychological effect or cause you have low-self esteem.

Prejudice against religion, gender, races, age and many more it can also be in a group, friends, or anyone. However is it too fast to judge someone based on their sole appearance, color, religion? There is a saying “Don’t judge a person by it’s look”. Everyone is different from their birth, the only similarity we have is we are all humans with feelings.

So why in the first place, are there people who prejudice others?Don’t you find it silly to have an opinion on someone or something you know nothing about.  But the mysterious thing is that how do they form a conclusion without knowing the fact? It’s right in the mind i would say.

Everyone may be prejudice in somethings, however before we give out opinions or thoughts, we should look at our-self in the mirror and ask a question, “am i perfect?”. No one is perfect in this world, should you be prejudice over something or someone, think again as if you were to receive a opinion or same remarks as what you said to others. Would you feel good?

The feeling of being prejudiced can cause people to have low self-esteem, lost of confidences, they eventually will feel that they are a outcast in society.

“Where prejudice exists it always discolors our thoughts”. Quoted by Mark Twain

  1. Lol, I agree.
It’s a perfect writing, prejudice can also be a steryotype, I guess, can also be racial.
There’s really nothing to say lol. You’ve explained everything I know.
    Thanks for this one.
    ^^

  2. hmmmm… interesting… but i tell you… i am prejudiced… but i dont discriminate races… :) just felt like sharing… :)

  3. uhuhhuuhuh, im a victim of prejudice and it really destroys my self-confidence and i know, i have very low self-esteem.;c

  4. Judging other people without knowing him/her is like judging a book by its cover… its Better to know that person first before you give judgement…

  5. ouch Y-Y tamaan ako . hahah . lol i am super duper to the nth level judgmental . im not proud but i dont want to pretend like i dont judge other people without even knowing them .

cant say anything more shawn , haha :D im hurt wif ur new article . LOL

btw , its nice :) as always.

  6. People have different views and comments on things or people differently, we just have to deal with them properly, sometimes these comments also improve our character. Instead of taking that as a derogatory response, why not take it as challenge, and try to improve yourself, you can never please everybody, but you can always try to make yourself better. IDK just speaking my thoughts on this ( :

    keep it up !

very true. if u dunno that person. best is to keep things to yourself. :)

  8. i think the reason why some people prejudice other is because they think that they are better , prettier , smarter compare to other ..
well .. maybe that’s true .. but i believe anyone has a pretty / smart / good side .. but not all people can see it ..

its true also that if someone receive prejudice .. it will make the person’s self esteem decrease .. that’s usual .. but not happen all the time .. really depends on the person .. some person will take it as a challenge .. they try prove that prejudice against them are wrong ..

success is not measure by what you achieve but how you move on evrytime you fall down ..

  9. Hmm. Well. Its their opinion and maybe thats what they see but why cant they just keep it to their selves, right? If you have a bad thing to say about a certain person or whatever, just shut up and keep it to yourself because you might or you will hurt a person. I guess its not wrong to be a prejudice, you just have to limit the words that you will say and construct in a good sentence in a way that the person wont find it discriminating, LOL. :P Or better yet just dont speak up. Haha. Well, sometimes we cant avoid things like that, right? Well. We just have to be careful of all the things that we will say. :)

  10. Thank you. I never thought i can say those kind of words. Haha. And very nice post. :) You’re good in writting. I wish i can write such things myself. Hehe. Keep up the good work Shawn. ;)

Prejudice for me is a compliment. We can never escape from discrimination even though we try to look our self at the mirror. we may know our reflection but we can never delete this attitude. It can lower ones self esteem yes. but it depends on your pick up on how would you be able to socialize with other people…

We mostly have our first impression, it maybe positive and negative… a compliment that can make you happy nor negative that will for sure discourage you.

if we let others prejudice us… and take it as what it is we loose the game, it is very important for us to learn how to socialize and show to them that we are that what do they think.

Prejudice against color for example… if you are black people will think your a nob, a loser, and the like and on the other hand ok lets say its almost all a compliment. but for all thoughts there is always a contrast to what it is. why don’t you try to show who you are?

in real life people think I’m rich, they think I’m smart, they think I’m silent and the like but for real they just base it on what they say.

No one is perfect thats why it is really possible for us to prejudice people and be able to correct the negative thoughts we had.

  12. Perhaps we’re really too childish to blowup th matter about THEM ,am i right to say that?Things shouldnt be that complicated in th first place.Your entries have woke me up.Perhaps…
