Feeling contented

Hi Readers,

I’m back again! okay, although it’ve only been a day, today felt like a long day to me. So getting on with today’s topic, i feels that i should write something about “Contentment”, afterall everyone in life should be contented about who they are and what they have. We should accept the life we have right now and be satisfied with the things around us. Without further ado, i will write about “Feeling contented”.

Being contented with life is a tentatively hard thing to achieve. Many people tend to feel discontented because of their lifestyle or because of things they can’t achieve. Contentment is when you are in a state of mind, accepting and appreciating stuffs, however, being able to accept what you really have now is very skeptical. Many people aim for the highest peak in their lives, they want to be rich, they want to be successful, they want to have many things in life.

Have you ever wonder why those people who are poor or unfortunate are able to feel contented with their lives? It’s because they are happy with what they have and they always try to make the best out of everything they had. Most people are living their lives aimlessly, they takes things for granted, they are clueless about people out there and their misfortunes that are happening to them. Many of us probably ain’t sure of what we want, that is why we cannot be contented with what we have.

We should appreciate things we have now or else we won’t be able to appreciate anything. Being contented is one of the most valuable lesson in life, as we learn on how to make our life filled with infinite happiness. If humans can be of a little simplicity, everyone will be contented about things in life. However, some people in life feels unhappy and discontented with their life, because they have many dissatisfaction about things in their lives.

I will end my post here for now, below is a quote for all of you.

“There is no end of craving. Hence contentment alone is the best way to happiness. Therefore, acquire contentment.” Quoted by Swami Sivananda

  1. we must appreciate everything around us..so we’ll be contented..we must be contented with what we have..yet we still should have the urge to have a better life.we should still aim…but if its kinda impossible..lets just be contented for the moment..but never stop dreaming on.. :]

  2. If every person in the world would be contented, there would no longer be discoveries and changes. I also think it just goes on in a cycle. Being unsatisfied brings happiness also, it is when a person finds a way to get to another step in the cycle. When he achieves it, he also becomes happy. Contentment though is a thing that occurs to the open-minded. To people who knows there is happiness in anything, everything.

hahah..thanks :] ..lets not reason out ‘i’m already contented’ if someone asks why we stop dreaming.. we must not stop aiming..we must not stop soaring..we must not stop trying to reach our goals..but while doing that..let’s be contented..so we’ll be fair and square while reaching for a better level in the society.. :]

  4. Bennjoe: Your a knowledgeable person, make use of your talent in it. Your will be soaring high :) i wish you all the best. And i really love your comment!

  5. For me, being not contented is, sort of, a motivating factor for us in the pursuit of our dreams. as we dream, we will never be contented.

  6. I agree, i really do. You see the middle class people always find themselves so discontented with their lives because they always want more. Whether its to compete with a neighbour or relative, they always want more and because of that, they never really appreciate what they have and take it for granted. I envy the unfortunate at times because they have a grasp of whats really important at times, the family unit and being alive. They are so grateful to be alive each day they have alive that they don’t take it for granted because for them, it’s a struggle for them to live day to day. Being alive is something many of us take for granted, those who don’t have quite possibly witnessed near death incidents and are thankful that they survived. You see, at the end of our life is when we realize the importance of it all, family, friends over the materialistic things that we get so caught up on during life. Is it really our fault? Partially. The media plays a big role in our consumer lifestyle, but we ourselves created the media. So why can’t we focus on the important things via media rather than the lesser things. We might worry about the cars we drive and the clothes we wear and never find ourselves to be contented with them because someone else has something better, but the bare necessities that we have that someone else doesn’t have is something that needs to be addressed. Though i focused more on the family and friends issue and being alive as being content, you see there are other things that we take for granted. When you wake up, and open your eyes, many of us take the gift of sight for granted, or the gift to walk. I say its a gift, because you never know when it can be taken away from you, its not permanent. Having the ability to see loved ones and to be able to walk and enjoy what the world has to offer, many of us take that for granted until its too late. Its not until we lose something do we really appreciate its worth. To be content with who you are, its all about self worth and pride. No one can give it to you, and no one can take it away from you except yourself. Its something that each and everyone one of us have to learn. I say pride, because we have to be proud of who we are and where we come from and what we have. Life isn’t a competition. Be grateful, be thankful for who you are and what you have.

  7. Be happy with what you’ve as not everything is prefect and will not go your way.
It’s best to see them as experience and sort for other alternative when the goals you want can’t be achieved.

  8. Its a sad reality that some people complain about the food they eat and not contented of what’s on the table while other people starve to death and they cant eat anything. :( It makes me sad that people cant be thankful enough that they can still eat 3x a day while others can only eat once, or dont eat at all.

Sorry, i cant think of any example, Shawn. But nice post! :)

  9. Ming: haha! you wrote a super long essay. Okay your right! be grateful, it seems as though its a mix of appreciation and contentment. Exactly.. it’s similar.. haha!

  10. Slyvester: Well your right about that, however i believe experiences is not contentment.. if you make experiences into contentment, then you are not gaining anything.

  11. good question dude. it is inherent that people will never be contented as life goes on because there is always something new coming out.

  12. hey Shawn
